Guy is available for private lessons, clinics, workshops and guest lectures at universities and colleges. He is a regular guest lecturer/teacher at these universities: UWS, Sydney, Macquarie, UNWS and ANU.

Coaching is available for HSC Music 1 as well as university entry tests.

FINGER STYLE TECHNIQUE

Guitar styles: European and South American classical, classical fusion, traditional and experimental Brazil’s samba and choro, Afro-Cuban, and acoustic World jazz fusion.

Traditional guitar techniques: Carcassi’s method, Tarrega’s Elementos Fundamentales, Yepes (imami) technique), Segovia’s scales and arpeggios, G. Pickler (right-hand technique). Hanon for classical guitar, M. Giuliani Arpeggio Studies, F. Sor (Foundation rest/free stroke etudes), Bach Lute Suites, Villa Lobos (12 Etudes). J. Duarte’s Foundation Studies in Classic Guitar Technique.

Contemporary Techniques: Ralph Towner (prepared right-hand technique). Powell/Bellinati/Faria (right-hand rhythms for Brazilian guitar). Paco De Lucia/Tomatito (flamenco falsetas), Leo Brower (Afro Cuban rhythmic influence on the classical guitar), Modern Guitar Workbook e.Book (Strazz, 2015), and Indian konnakol rhythms.

This is a Brazilian choro, Lamentos do Morros, by Garoto; I used an 8-string classical guitar by Pedrini – the percussionist is Geronimo Santo da Silva

Improvisation – harmonic/melodic relationships in jazz, phrasing, rhythms, melodic patterns, harmonic structures for guitar, ornaments, composition.

This track – About Stern – is one of my compositions from the Blue Phoenix album (ABC Jazz) I played it on a customised Guild Starfire III with Bartolini jazz pickups – the amp is a Fender Deluxe Deville 40w
